Marvin L. Bittinger
Biographical Sketch
Marvin L. Bittinger is Professor of Mathematics Education at Indiana University – Purdue University at Indianapolis. He lives in Carmel, Indiana with his wife Elaine. He has two sons, Lowell, age 32, and Chris, age 28.
Dr. Bittinger pursued his undergraduate studies at Manchester College (B. A., Mathematics, 1963) and graduate studies at The Ohio State University (M. S., Mathematics, 1965) and Purdue University (Ph. D., Mathematics Education, 1968). Dr. Bittinger is the author of over 163 mathematics textbooks ranging in topics from developmental mathematics to algebra and trigonometry to brief calculus. Dr. Bittinger was Distinguished Visiting Professor at the United States Air Force Academy in 1978. His hobbies include baseball, bowling, golf, and hiking in Utah with his sons. Dr. Bittinger has a passionate interest in Christian theology and apologetics. He often gives a talk entitled “Mathematics in the Christian Faith.”
