Personal Story
Five significant events punctuated my spiritual life in 1995.
- I took my 8 year-old son to Africa and we stayed with missionaries for a week;
- I went to Egypt where I walked up Mt. Sinai (Moses Mountain) on Easter morning;
- I went on an Emmaus walk;
- I read a little book, Christianity: The Faith That Makes Sense, which satisfied a lot of my serious concerns about the Bible.
- Finally, I got involved in the Faculty Christian Fellowship on campus at the invitation of a colleague.
These experiences collectively drove a head knowledge of Christ about 12 inches down to my heart. Since then I have had an insatiable desire to know God in a personal way.
The university should actually be the natural venue for exchange of ideas and beliefs like this. Currently I meet with two guys from my building on campus for an hour at lunch time to discuss current events from a Christian perspective, and to study the Bible. A similar group of women has started recently.
I now attend a Bible-believing church with my family. We have started a small group that meets in our home weekly. Welcome, worship, word and witness form the basis of the gathering we call a TLC group.
